Cooktop Repair — Book a Visit Today
Cooktops fail in ways you notice mid-dinner. A gas burner clicks and clicks but never lights. An electric coil stays cold. A glass induction top flashes an error code and shuts down the whole zone. Usual suspects: worn igniters, clogged burner ports, cracked spark modules, failed surface elements, bad infinite switches, or a control board that lost a relay. Our visit starts with questions, then testing at the terminals instead of guessing. On stacked apartment installs and condo kitchens, we also check the cutout, the gas shutoff, and whether the breaker is doing something odd. Many parts ride with us. Tell us the brand and what the burner does, and we can plan the trip. Call us.

The cooktop symptoms we hear most
- It clicks forever and never lights Weak spark igniter, cracked electrode ceramic, or a moisture-soaked spark module
- One burner is dead, the rest are fine Open surface element, burnt receptacle, or a failed infinite switch on that zone
- Flames are orange and lazy Blocked burner ports, wrong orifice for the gas type, or bad air shutter adjustment
- The glass top throws an error and quits Induction control board fault, overheated coil sensor, or cooling fan failure underneath
- Knob is off but the burner stays hot Welded switch contacts or a shorted element leaking power through the circuit
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Pull the grates and burner caps, then look for food crust plugging the little gas ports.
- 2Check the breaker panel for a tripped double-pole breaker feeding the cooktop.
- 3Wipe the igniter electrode dry if something boiled over recently, and let it air out.
- 4Make sure the gas shutoff valve under the counter or behind the drawer is fully open.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
You call us or type it into the form. Leaking, buzzing, not draining, blinking code. We ask a few questions and note your brand and model so the van is loaded right.
- Step 2
We pick a window
Arrival windows get built around real traffic, not wishful thinking. Tell us about gate codes, HOA elevator hours, or a tight parking situation and we plan the route around it.
- Step 3
Diagnose, then repair
Our tech opens the machine, tests the part that failed, and explains what he found in plain words. You approve the work before anything gets ordered or replaced. Common parts ride along.

Guides & troubleshooting
Cooktop Repair — quick answers
Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?
The glass itself is one piece and gets replaced, not patched. A crack can let spills reach wiring below, so we advise against using that zone. We check availability of the glass for your model before scheduling any work.
Why does my gas burner smell for a second when lighting?
A brief whiff as gas ignites is normal. A smell that lingers, or one you notice with all knobs off, is different. Shut the gas off, ventilate, leave the space, and call your gas utility first.
Do you work on cooktops in apartments and condos?
Yes. We deal with tight cutouts, shared walls, and HOA access rules regularly. Let us know if the building requires a certificate of insurance or a specific elevator window, and we will plan the visit around it.
Is induction repairable, or is it a throwaway?
Often repairable. Common failures are the cooling fan, a temperature sensor, or one power board section, not the whole unit. Diagnosis tells us which. We test the coil and board before recommending replacement of anything.
My electric burner heats unevenly. What causes that?
Usually the infinite switch cycling wrong, or a coil element with a hot spot from age. Warped pans make it look worse. We test switch cycling and element resistance to separate cookware issues from real failures.
How long does a cooktop repair take?
Most single-burner or igniter jobs finish in one visit once we have the part. Control boards and glass panels may need ordering. We tell you which situation you are in during the diagnosis, not after.
